The Supreme Court is supposed to be the last line of defense against any attack on our fundamental rights as Americans, but Republican elected officials have hindered this opportunity by disrupting the ruling balance. Today's Court does not represent the people. Rather, they represent the entrenched partisan interests of the ruling class — and it's time to call for an immediate change.
Thankfully, Sen. Ed Markey and Reps. Hank Johnson, Jerrold Nadler, and Mondaire Jones recently introduced The Judiciary Act of 2021 — which finally gives us a chance to advocate for true, transformative legislation that will re-establish balance and integrity in our judiciary systems.

To be clear, John, the Supreme Court did not get this way by accident. Republicans have spent decades working to take over our judiciary process, with the goal of solidifying their right-wing ideologies into government systems.
Republicans have stolen the Supreme Court not once, but twice — which has given them a 6-3 supermajority. As a result, today's Court has routinely sided with corporate interests and Republican Party donors over working families and people who deserve representation. The Court's hyper-partisan, right-wing majority has spearheaded the attack on free and fair elections by gutting the Voting Rights Act, allowing partisan gerrymandering, and letting waves of dark money into our electoral process.
The Judiciary Act of 2021 would add four additional seats to the Court and help us restore our democracy and ensure the American people's interests are represented on national challenges like economic and racial justice, climate change, access to health care, voting rights, and much more.
