Watch My Name is Muundo

To mark this global moment, Draw The Line Against Malaria has launched My Name Is Muundo, a new animation exploring the story behind the campaign’s iconic artwork: a new universal language to unite the world against malaria.

It features the voice of Grammy Award-winning Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, actress and activist Yemi Alade, the animation helps show how we can all play a part in ending malaria in our lifetimes.

A game-changing malaria vaccine

The new malaria vaccine developed by researchers at the University of Oxford has been shown to be 77% effective in phase 2 clinical trials – suggesting it could be a game-changer in the fight to end the disease.

An effective vaccine for malaria has long been sought after as a key piece of the puzzle in ending the disease which still takes the lives of over 400,000 people every year, most of them young children. But so far, the most effective jab available only offers partial protection. The Oxford vaccine is the first to meet the World Health Organisation’s goal of 75% efficacy against the disease.
