We're extremely alarmed by what we're finding in the Republican fundraising reports from the first quarter of 2021. The biggest takeaway is: If you are a Republican who needs to raise money, Donald Trump is your best friend.
Here's a small sample of the Republicans who made the pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago for extremely high-dollar events hosted by Trump:
- Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul raised $500,000 in one night.
- South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem raised $300,000.
- The RNC hosted a $100,000 per plate event for 400 people.
It's only a matter of time before Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, and others come to collect their checks.
Electing progressives to kick out Trump allies and other radical Republicans is going to take every single one of us. In 2022, we're going to need your time, energy, and financial support to fight back against Trump's deep pockets. There is no amount of dark money that can silence progressive voices in this country if we work together, but we have to build our momentum now -- because the GOP sure isn't waiting until 2022.
