While it's the norm for the opposition party to give a response to the president's State of the Union or other address to Congress, it's not as common for a member in the same party to give a response. But Jamaal and the Working Families Party fully understand that America faces massive crises, and that now isn't the time for common practices.
Our elected leaders — from President Biden to local officials — must be held accountable to deliver solutions that meet the crises at their scale. Jamaal's response to President Biden's speech will offer a bold, progressive vision for how we deliver jobs and care to the American people and make sure everyone who calls this country home can thrive.
