John,
As millions of families struggle to keep food on the table during a global pandemic and economic crisis, the rich have only gotten richer — in fact, the CEO-to-worker pay ratio has eclipsed 320-to-1.
Over the past four decades, average CEO pay has risen by 1,000 percent, and since the pandemic began the U.S. added 50 new people to the list of total billionaires.
Simply put: In the wealthiest country in the world, this is unacceptable. It’s more important than ever that we close the CEO-worker pay gap and ensure that companies pay their workers the wages they deserve.
That’s why I introduced the Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act with Rep. Rashida Tlaib to combat corporate greed and end outrageous CEO pay while their workers suffer. Will you join me in support of our bill to tax excessive CEO pay?

The Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act would tax big corporations that pay their CEOs and other top executives at least 50 times more than they pay their average worker. The wider a company’s gap between CEO and median worker pay, the higher their federal corporate tax rate.
Our bill would raise an estimated $150 billion over the span of 10 years that could be used to reduce racial, gender, and economic inequality.
At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and worsened income inequality, it’s critical that we pass legislation that levels the playing field between workers and corporate executives.
We are counting on grassroots supporters like you to join our movement and help put an end to the ongoing cycle of billions of dollars going to those at the top while workers’ wages — especially for workers of color — remain stagnant.
Will you sign on as a grassroots co-sponsor to demand we start taxing excessive CEO pay? [[link removed]]

Thank you for signing on with me.
In solidarity,
