Dear Friend,

The team at the Secular Coalition for America is hard at work advocating on your behalf here in Washington D.C. Every week we are meeting with Members of Congress, their staff, and other policymakers on issues that matter to you and other secular Americans. But outside of the halls (aka Zoom meetings) of Congress, our 19 member organizations are doing amazing things across the country, I'd like to share with you what some are up to and how you can participate!

Secular Week of Action

Every year, the secular movement comes together to create change in our local communities and provide an alternative to the National Day of Prayer (May 6, 2021). Our coalition spends a whole week organizing service projects and volunteering as individuals  — increasing the visibility of secular people and helping improve our world.

This year, because of the dramatic increase in food insecurity and homelessness as a result of the pandemic, we’re especially encouraging groups to focus on those critical issues, but any service is encouraged throughout the week of April 30 - May 9.

Interested in participating in your community? Here are some steps to get you started!

This year's Secular Week of Action is just a week away!

Here at the Secular Coalition for America, our staff will be partnering with Capital Area Food Bank located in Northeast Washington, D.C.

Mayday for Humanity

Please join us for Mayday for Humanity - an evening of entertainment with a mission to help those impacted by COVID-19. Comedians Leighann Lord and Ian Harris will co-host this 3-hour event with an array of comedians, poets, and musical performers to raise funds for homeless shelters and food banks, without religious affiliation. SCA is a proud co-sponsor of Mayday For Humanity, which will no doubt be an amazing event!

Secular Student Alliance Virtual Conference

The Secular Coalition for America is pleased to invite you to the Secular Student Alliance's (SSA) virtual conference on May 15-16, 2021. We are proud to have SSA as a member organization within our coalition and it's our pleasure to partner with them in producing some of the content that will be featured during their conference.

This year, we facilitated exclusive interviews with Congressional Freethought Caucus members, Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI-02) and Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA-08).

You will be able to see the full interview along with other presentations, both live and recorded, from student leaders and secular community advocates from around the country at the conference. Registration is completely free!
