America Should Utilize an All-of-the-Above Energy Approach, Abandon Flawed Paris Agreement
When President Biden embraced the China-friendly Paris Accord, he made it clear that he is willing to sacrifice millions of American jobs just to appease his radical Socialist base. This is not about saving the planet, highlighted by the fact that not a single country in the European Union, including France, is in compliance with the unrealistic emissions targets established in the Paris Accord, and China is exempt from these job-crushing mandates. The twisted reality of President Biden’s announcement is that we will see higher carbon emissions, fewer American jobs, and higher prices for hard-working families. President Biden just increased carbon emissions and gave a massive gift to China by exempting them from these mandates because they will get our good jobs, and they emit many times more carbon to make the same products we make here with much better environmental standards.
Tying America’s hands to a larger and equally-flawed Paris Agreement guarantees that the world will get its energy from countries like China, Russia, and Iran, which will increase carbon emissions while destroying the American economy. Meanwhile, China gets a free pass under Paris, and many countries, including even France, have fallen short of the promises they’ve made.
I urge President Biden to return to an America First energy strategy that focuses on an all-of-the-above energy approach that will create more American jobs and lower household energy costs for hard-working families.
Opposing AOC's Socialist "Green New Deal" Plan
Radical leftists once again reintroduced their job-killing ‘Green New Deal’ to advance Speaker Pelosi’s socialist agenda.
This plan by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would force household electricity rates to skyrocket on low-income families, destroy millions of energy jobs for hard-working Americans, and increase global carbon emissions by shipping jobs to countries like China which don't have as strong environmental standards as we have. The Democrats’ ‘Green New Deal’ would ship millions of good-paying American jobs from energy-producing states like Louisiana to our nation’s adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran, which will lead to higher carbon emissions.
Instead of attempting to end American oil and natural gas production, we need to prioritize an all-of-the-above energy strategy that has propelled America to be energy dominant and allowed our economy to thrive, all while reducing American carbon emissions.
Meeting with the Louisiana Restaurant Association
This week, I chatted with members of the Louisiana Restaurant Association to talk about the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on Louisiana's restaurants and how the Paycheck Protection Program has successfully kept small businesses afloat throughout this unprecedented time.
Hearing from Constituents
I hosted a telephone townhall with constituents from Louisiana's 1st Congressional District this week. I was able to directly hear concerns about the growing crisis on our southern border, President Biden's executive order suspending all new oil and gas leasing in the Gulf of Mexico, and the debate on whether to grant statehood to Washington, D.C.
Statement on Seacor Capsizing off Louisiana Coast
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the crew members who tragically lost their lives in last week’s capsizing in the Gulf of Mexico, and also for their loved ones as the recovery process continues. I sincerely thank the U.S. Coast Guard, divers, and Good Samaritan Vessels who have been involved in the recovery efforts. Jennifer and I will continue to pray for all the families who have lost love ones.
