People For Member,

Surfacing from his hideaway at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, former President Trump called upon President Biden to reinstate his foreign travel ban (that predominantly affected majority-Muslim and African countries) – continuing his fear mongering about “radical Islam.” [1]

Thankfully, just days later the U.S. House issued a strong and unequivocal rebuke of Trump’s travel ban by passing the NO BAN Act with a bipartisan vote – legislation that would put an end to the anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant policy and prevent any future president from imposing a similar discriminatory policy.

Urge the Senate to follow suit and pass the bill immediately and send it to President Biden’s desk for his signature! >>

While President Biden put an end to Trump’s travel ban upon taking office, the ability for future presidents to impose a similar ban still remains – unless the NO BAN Act is signed into law. And even if Trump isn’t on the ballot in 2024, there are many other figures just like him, eager to revive and outdo his bigoted policies.

Senators Tom Cotton and Ted Cruz praised the policy, with Cruz calling the ban “a commonsense step” and dozens of other Congressional Republicans offered their support. It’s clear that while President Biden has no plans to reinstate a similar policy, all too many far-right members of Congress – and likely 2024 contenders – are more than willing to impose the ban again.

Tell the Senate to pass the NO BAN Act NOW – we can’t wait and give future presidents the ability to impose religious and ethnically-motivated travel bans! >>

We must utilize this moment to rein in these egregious and inhumane policies, like the Trump travel ban that devastated communities and ripped apart families.

Thank you for urging the Senate to take immediate action.

In solidarity,

Zach, People For the American Way
