"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Johnson Ndichu, the Chairman of the Kenya Champions of Justice — a group of survivors advocating on issues of police violence — has recently passed away. Johnson witnessed a friend's death at the hands of police in 2014 and was subsequently charged with crimes to keep him quiet about the murder. In the ensuing years, he became a passionate advocate for police to use their power as agents of the government to protect, not terrorize, the public. Please pray for his family, friends and for the entire IJM Kenya team as they mourn his loss.
Latin America
- Continue praying for IJM staff and partners in El Salvador as the COVID-19 outbreak is still posing significant challenges to our operations. While our team has effectively resumed their work under "new normality" conditions, there are still limits aroung gathering, providing in-person permanent support and facilitating larger trainings. Pray for our IJM staff to remain safe and healthy as they navigate creative ways to continue engaging and supporting local officials who have direct contact with victims of violence.
South Asia
- Ask for God's mercy and intervention across South Asia amid an intense spike in the COVID-19 pandemic. Many cities where we work are going back into full lockdowns, and many of our staff and partners have been personally affected. Pray for safety and protection in these communities, and pray that healthcare workers will have everything they need to stop the spread. Pray for protection over the survivors we serve, that they can stay healthy and continue to thrive in freedom without COVID disrupting their journey. Pray for our IJM staff to feel safe and encouraged during this stressful time.

Last week we asked you to pray for the Synergy and Alignment Summit for the IJM Global Hub Against Online Sexual Exploitation of Children. The Summit went very well — thank you for your prayers! Please continue to pray with us that this event will continue to be the catalyst for aligning all teams involved in fighting online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC).
- Pray for protection from COVID-19 for all staff and their families working in this region. Please pray in particular for the Cambodia and Bangkok teams, as the numbers of positive cases in the areas where they serve are rising.

Race to Rescue , an event that will culminate on June 26-27 when participants run 1mi, 5k, or 10k to fundraise to send rescue to the millions of children trapped in slavery around the world. Pray that many would be moved to sign up, and that they would be able to joyfully engage in this with their communities (even if socially-distanced!) as we kick off the summer with a fun and meaningful experience.
The updates we share on survivors or their cases can become sensitive over time. To respect and protect them, please refrain from posting these prayer requests online.
