Please help us protect Palestinian human rights by taking action today. On April 15, Representative Betty McCollum introduced H.R. 2590, Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act.
This bill prohibits Israel from using U.S. taxpayer dollars in the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem for the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention; to support the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and homes in violation of international humanitarian law; or, to extend any assistance or support for Israel’s unilateral annexation of Palestinian territory in violation of international humanitarian law. H.R. 2590 not only addresses the issue of human rights violations but also ensures that U.S. taxpayer funds are not used to support the military detention of Palestinian children. As Americans, it is extremely important that our money does not facilitate the ill-treatment of children anywhere in the world, no matter what other interests are at play.
Emgage Action is proud to have supported this bill in the past and we are thrilled to see Congress take action to stand up for the rights of Palestinian children. We urge you to take action and contact your representatives to support this important bill. In solidarity,
