"Gerrymander/ ˈjerēˌmandər/ verb: To manipulate the boundaries of (an electoral constituency) so as to favor one party or race."

The Census Bureau is expected to release apportionment numbers next week -- a.k.a the number of seats each state will have in Congress.

States like Texas, North Carolina, and Florida are expected to *gain* seats because their populations increased. This is great for voters in those states -- but it’s also a chance for map drawers to wildly manipulate maps if their efforts go unchecked.

Here’s the thing: Republicans could take the House in 2022 without winning a single additional vote. All they need to do is manipulate the maps in states like TX, NC, GA, and FL to unfairly tip the scales in their direction.

Help us make sure the maps in every state -- whether they lose, gain, or maintain their number of Congressional seats -- are drawn fairly and not manipulated to be “safe” seats for one party.
