[1]Women's March

"The Violence Against Women Act Faces a Rocky
Road for Reauthorization"

— Huffington Post Politics, April 2021

John, last month,
we came directly to Women's Marchers like you after the House successfully
voted to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act.

But it wasn't a moment of celebration — because 172 Republican members of
Congress voted against the bill. This was just hours after six Asian women
were killed by a white supremacist mass shooter in Georgia. It's beyond
shameful.

Now, the bill is headed to the Senate, and we need to sound the alarm.
It's clear that Republicans are dead-set on stalling this urgent piece of
legislation that would save lives and reinforce crucial protections for
countless women across our country — and with the lack of major attention
from the media, we're afraid that news around this bill could be drowned
out.

Women's Marchers know that when we mobilize to fight for women, we can
win. But will take every person on this team adding their name in support
of reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act to demonstrate the
overwhelming support from women and allies across the country — including
in Washington. We're looking to gather the signatures of women from
every single city in the country to show our powerful, unrelenting support
of this legislation, so we're asking you:

[ [link removed] ]Will you add your name right now so we can get a Women's Marcher
from Washington on the record as a strong supporter of reauthorizing
the Violence Against Women Act? It only takes a moment, but will go a long
way in showing that women everywhere are demanding the passage of this
important legislation.

Add your name →

Every single day the Violence Against Women Act goes without
reauthorization is another day that women go without the critical
protections we need and deserve.

We know we must hold every one of the 172 House Republicans — a
staggering, and devastating number — who voted against the reauthorization
of VAWA last month accountable for their actions. But we also must push as
hard as we can to make sure this bill doesn't die in the Senate. With your
help, Women's March can do both,
John. But we can't do this work
without you.

We've set an ambitious goal to get a Women's Marcher from every city in
the country on the record to demand the immediate passage of the Violence
Against Women Act. Will you add your name right now?

[ [link removed] ]Add your name to get a Women's Marcher on record from Washington:
The Senate must reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act without delay.
It'll take all of to make sure this final bill makes its way to President
Biden's desk so he can sign it into law.

Thank you for taking action today,

Women’s March

P.S. We're looking for a Women's Marcher from Washington
specifically to add your name in support of reauthorizing VAWA. If we can
get women and allies from every city in the country to come out in strong
support of this bill, we can send an unmistakable message to Republicans
in the Senate that we won't allow them to stall this landmark legislation.
[ [link removed] ]Can you sign today? It only takes a moment.
