 John, TODAY is the day that Virginia voters start going to the polls and the governor’s race is really heating up! Last month, we introduced you to Jennifer Carroll Foy and her campaign to fight for working families, good jobs, and a Green New Deal for Virginia voters. Since then, the momentum has only been picking up! Jennifer participated in a campaign debate, picked up some really eye-catching endorsements, and kicked off a phenomenal field program that’s going to make her a household name and get her into office. Jennifer has been able to assert herself as the ONLY candidate who could take on former governor Terry McAuliffe in this race. While in office, McAuliffe took hundreds of thousands of dollars from Dominion Energy, the same corporation whose coal ash pits leaked toxic lead and arsenic, elevating risks for Virginians to contract cancer. But, Jennifer can’t do it without your help! The establishment desperately wants McAuliffe to get reelected so they can use their influence to continue to burn fossil fuels and pollute the most vulnerable communities in Virginia without any repercussions. Jennifer is a former foster mom, Public Defender, and, while she served in the Virginia House of Delegates, worked to expand Medicaid to 500,000 newly insured Virginians and co-sponsored the Virginia Green New Deal Act. If elected, she would be the first Black woman governor in the history of our country! Election day is June 8th but early voting is already starting.
