I've worked at McDonald's throughout the entire pandemic, and it taught me a few things.
When they paid me poverty wages and didn't provide adequate PPE, it taught me that they see me as disposable. When they refused to give us paid leave if we got sick, it taught me that there's no limit to their exploitation. When they illegally fired me, it taught me I'd have to FIGHT to get my job back with back pay.
That's why workers across California went on strike and took action over the last week, from San Diego to Sacramento, as part of the #FASTRecovery Act Road to Recovery tour. The FAST Recovery Act will allow us to have a seat at the table and give workers the power to hold corporations accountable. It's working. Just yesterday, the bill made it out of its first committee vote.
