This Earth Day, I'm proud to say
science is back. — President Joe Biden, April 22nd,
2021
Hi,
Yesterday, Earth Day was front and center to the global
conversation.
We spent the day as the #1 trending hashtag on Twitter and
our Earth Day Live livestream reached millions around the
world. Over the 7-hour event we heard from so many diverse
voices and perspectives on ways to Restore Our Earth through universal
climate literacy, natural solutions and technological innovations.
As President Biden tweeted: Science is back.
After the past year, we now all see clearly the links between human
behavior and the twin crises of climate change and our health.
We have to be ready to take immediate action. The
kind of action that gets world leaders’ and corporate CEOs’ attention.
For four years we have witnessed an unprecedented attack on our
environmental laws both in the U.S. and around the world. President
Biden’s global climate summit is a step in the right direction — but
we are running out of time.
Environmental activism requires us to channel the energy of the
movement into effective mobilization. Fifty-one years we ago we turned
out 20 million people into the streets and forced our leaders to pass
laws that protect the planet. We need that kind of action
again.
We need activists, equity and inclusion. We need to fight the
fossil fuel industry, and fight for the laws that protect
biodiversity, clean air and our water. This is our planet, we
all live on it and we are all responsible for saving it from our own
destruction.
EARTHDAY.ORG is at the center of the fight for our home. We are
the big tent that includes 1 billion people worldwide and we can't do
this work without you.
Will you become an annual sustaining
member?
For action,
Kathleen Rogers President
