We've been so inspired by the outpouring of support from the NRDC Action Fund community this Earth Day that we've EXTENDED our campaign for another 24 hours. That means ONE MORE DAY to have your donation matched and go twice as far in our critical work to defend our communities and fight the climate crisis.
Earth Day 2021 is really like no other. We have just about a year — before the midterm elections get going — to pass the pro-environment legislation this country needs to avert the worst impacts of climate change and usher in a clean energy future.
The science is clear: We must cut carbon pollution by 50% by 2030, and completely zero it out by 2050, to avoid climate catastrophe. And yesterday, President Biden committed to that goal — doubling the current U.S. climate targets.
As we witness the increasingly devastating impacts of climate change, from extreme winter storms in Texas and Oklahoma to the glaciers melting in Greenland, it's clearer than ever that we must do all we can to take advantage of this brief window of opportunity.
But the fossil fuel industry and other big polluters, enabled by Mitch McConnell and their other allies in Congress, are desperately trying to hold on to their power and profits. To stop them, we must hold our lawmakers accountable and make it clear: You work for us, not for Big Oil.
When you pitch in for Earth Day, your gift helps us organize, make calls, write letters, and ramp up pressure for the BIG CHANGES we all need, like:
- Increasing wind and solar energy
- Creating millions of good-paying clean energy jobs
- Upgrading and modernizing our aging energy, water, and transit infrastructure

This is the most important Earth Day of our lifetimes — because we honestly don't have another year to spare.
