Since the beginning of 2021, the U.S. has averaged more than one mass shooting where four or more people are shot each day.

Unfortunately, this isn’t unthinkable. This continues a trend we’ve seen over the past few years. In 2020, we saw a record high of 610 mass shootings.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

These numbers are more than statistics. They are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandparents and children whose lives were tragically cut short. They are hopes and dreams dashed, and families and communities changed forever.

And the truth is, many of these lives would have been saved if simple measures like universal background checks were signed into law.

Here at Giffords, we are making it our mission to pass universal background checks so we can save lives. Which is why we need to ask:
