Dear Friend, This morning, voting started in Alexandria's Democratic Primary. Thanks to recent changes in Virginia law, voters can choose to vote anytime between today and 7 PM on Tuesday June 8th. Alexandria's voters will be asked to select Democratic nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Mayor, City Council, and for those in the 45th District, we will choose a Democratic nominee for the House of Delegates. You can review the sample ballots for this election online: Sample Ballot for 45th House of Delegates District Sample Ballot for 46th House of Delegates District There are three ways you can vote in this Democratic Primary: Vote early in-person at the Registrar's Office at 132 N. Royal Street (across from City Hall). In-person voting will be available Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM; Saturdays May 22nd, May 29th and June 5th from 8 AM until 5 PM; with extended hours until 8 PM on May 24th, May 25th, June 2nd and June 3rd. Request a mail ballot today online that can be returned by US Mail or dropped at the 24/7 drop-box available in front of the Registrar's Office. Vote in-person on the Primary Day of June 8th, from 6 AM until 7 PM at your local precinct. This week was a big week in our City. Today, the Washington Business Journal named our project to build a new Inova Alexandria Hospital on the Landmark Mall site as their "2020 Deal of the Year." We cut the ribbon on 52 new units of affordable housing, replacing the old Ramsey Homes. Alexandria became the first jurisdiction in Virginia to bring back collective bargaining to give our employees a voice at the work place and we approved a new Policing Review Board to provide enhanced resident oversight of policing practices in our community. The progress we have made as a community is the result of collaborative leadership and community involvement. I would be honored to have your support as we continue our work in the future!
