This is urgent. Refugee families like Mauwa's are stuck in limbo.

I'm outraged by the Biden Administration's decision to maintain the historically low Fiscal Year 2021 admissions goal of 15,000 refugees set by the Trump Administration. Are you outraged too, John?

Can you spare just one minute to add your name in support of increased refugee admissions?

While we welcome the news that the Biden Administration will reassess the refugee cap by May 15, there are already more than 30,000 individuals who have been conditionally approved by the U.S. government to be resettled to the U.S. An additional month delay is needless and harmful — especially given that deliberations between the agencies, Congress, and the White House concluded over two months ago.

This waiting game has real, tragic consequences for vulnerable people who have fled war and persecution.

Mauwa (30 years old) and her four children, refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, were at the airport — ready to be resettled in the U.S. — when she found out their flight was cancelled due to President Biden's delay in signing the presidential determination, the official order by which presidents set the number of refugees to be welcomed into the country each year.

"Right now, Mauwa is not in a good place. When she got the information that she was going to come, she started giving away everything that she possessed because she knew she was going to travel. When the flight was canceled, she went back to the refugee camp and now she doesn't have anything." — Patrice, Mauwa's father

Each day that the Trump Administration's legacy of an all-time low refugee admissions goal of 15,000 individuals remains in place is another day that some of the most vulnerable people are stuck in uncertainty.

John: Please add your name and declare your support for welcoming more refugees to the United States:

Thanks to IRC advocates like you, we have already helped push the Biden Administration to review their refugee resettlement policy. Too many lives are at stake for us not to act.

The IRC and other refugee resettlement agencies stand ready and waiting to welcome — add your name to let President Biden know that you're ready and waiting to welcome too.

Thank you again,
