Hi John,

🚨 Urgent Budget Action Alert 🚨
Last chance to weigh in on how Washington will spend state revenue!

Now is the last chance to make your voice heard before this Sunday (the last day of the legislative session!). And legislators must hear from you TODAY . Two critical bills are at stake! Please take BOTH actions below :

Stop asking working families already struggling to make ends meet to pay more than their fair share!
We need progressive revenue to rebalance Washington’s tax code which currently asks those making the least to pay SIX TIMES more of their income to state taxes than those with the highest incomes. SB 5096 would enact a tax on the ultra-wealthy’s extraordinary profits to generate hundreds of millions in state revenue for childcare and education. Lawmakers in the House and Senate must agree before Sunday to pass a tax on capital gains and right our upside-down tax code!

E-mail your senator now [[link removed]] to support this critical step in balancing Washington’s tax code.

Prevent a tidal wave of evictions and homelessness!
Washington needs a long-term solution to address homelessness; a problem made significantly worse by the pandemic. More than 400,000 renters are currently caught up on rent but are exhausting their savings, selling assets, and maxing out credit cards to meet their basic needs. Although Washington is slated to receive millions in federal funding for rental assistance, this revenue is short-term. HB 1277 would create a permanent source of funding for eviction and homelessness prevention as well as the operations and maintenance of permanent supportive housing. This bill must pass the Senate by this Sunday.

E-mail your senator now [[link removed]] to urge their swift support on HB 1277.
