Today might be Earth Day, but for Jerry, caring about the environment is far more than a one-day event.

Throughout his career, Jerry has taken on big oil and fought for a cleaner and safer environment for everyone — even in the face of well-funded corporate opposition.

Jerry recently helped secure funding for the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT), which unleashed massive investment in building the offshore wind industry off the New York coast. This investment won’t just lower carbon emissions, it will also bring meaningful manufacturing jobs to Brooklyn, support small businesses with green job creation, localize supply chains, and develop both the local workforce and nearby neighborhoods.

Jerry is doing everything in his power to urge his colleagues to pass the Green New Deal now, we’re working hard in our communities to fight climate change and work to expand sustainable housing. The Green New Deal for Public Housing Act invests in our national infrastructure to repair and update public spaces and housing which will improve community health.

But here’s the thing: while we have the science on our side, the GOP has unlimited money from fossil fuel corporations. That’s why it’s so important that we send an unmistakable message that our grassroots power is too strong to deny or ignore.

What we do (or don’t do) now will affect every living being on earth, and we can’t let Wall Street, corporate polluters and their big-money stop us.
