John — We've reached out many times to ask you to take action to support those who care for us — and you've stepped up each and every time. This recent interview between President Biden and NDWA member Susie Rivera is proof that our strategy to uplift care workers and create a caring economy that will benefit all of us is working!
Your support is critical to the success of our Care is Essential campaign, and to creating a just, equitable society. But the last few weeks have been traumatic for so many different reasons, so we wanted to take time to reach out and make sure that everyone in our community was feeling cared for. We want to know: how are you doing?
From the continued murders and assaults on Black and Brown people by the police, from mass shooting after mass shooting, to yet another possible pandemic surge on the horizon...we often don’t have the words to make sense of everything that's going on. We're saddened, angered, and overwhelmed by it all. But this we know for sure: we must defund policing systems that harm Black communities and invest in community care and infrastructure. George Floyd should be here. Ma'Kiyah Bryant should be here. Daunte Wright, Adam Toledo, and so many others named and unnamed should be here.
Our vision for the future is clear and we will make it possible.
This emotional roller coaster we're all on can be exhausting. It's important during these turbulent times to find moments of hope to uplift our spirit — moments like Tuesday's verdict in the George Floyd hearing or the fact that care workers are finally starting to gain national recognition for the essential work they do. It's also important that we lean on the strong care community that we’ve built to help remind each other of the just and caring society we're all working for.
We hope you know we're here for you – so take a few minutes to check-in with us and let us know how you're doing.
Take care of yourselves,
Care Team
