Hello there,

POLITICO: “House and Senate Democrats will introduce legislation … to expand the number of Supreme Court justices to 13 from nine.”

Mitch McConnell blocked Merrick Garland's Supreme Court nomination in 2016 and then rammed through Donald Trump's third Supreme Court appointment with barely a week left to go before Americans voted him out.

Republicans now have a 6-3 conservative majority in the highest court in the country -- with Trump's loyalists Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett tipping the scales in major decisions covering the separation of church and state, reproductive rights, and voting rights.

Democrats want to restore the balance. There is nothing in the Constitution that requires nine judges be on the court. As POLITICO points out, “the number of seats on the high court has fluctuated in American history, from as few as five to as many as 10.”

Republicans, and even some Democrats, have spoken out against expanding the Supreme Court. But progressives know there's too much at stake to allow a Trump-backed majority to make key decisions for decades to come. Before we take any action, we need to know where engaged Democrats like you stand on the issue:

Do you support expanding the Supreme Court?
