This Earth Day feels hopeful after a year of grappling with a global pandemic — we aim to reclaim the activist spirit of the first Earth Day in 1970.

Youth are organizing digital mass actions for climate justice. Washingtonians are in the streets demanding racial justice in support of Black Lives Matter. And WCV is collaborating with tribal nations, frontline communities, and a wide range of experts on a roadmap for passing a strong bill this year to cap emissions.

In the final days of the legislative session, we are working to advance a Clean and Just transportation package, keep bad amendments out of the Clean Fuel Standard bill, and work hard on the Conservation Works budget package, to create jobs, improve public health, and protect the environment for current and future generations.

Tell your House Rep to strengthen and pass the Climate Commitment Act! [[link removed]]

Senate Bill 5126, the Climate Commitment Act, must address the multiple needs and values all communities have around carbon pricing. This policy must ensure polluters are held accountable, that our investments are leveraged to benefit those most impacted, and that the leadership of tribal nations and overburdened communities is centered.

Our region has an exciting opportunity to support the largest salmon recovery effort in history — honoring Indigenous treaty rights, supporting orca population recovery, and invigorating our economy.
