Oswego passes budget with cuts to expenses, but not services
On Tuesday, the Oswego Village Board passed its annual budget for Fiscal Year 2022, which includes $46.9 million in expenditures and $47.9 million in total revenues. The Village trimmed back expenses, but not services provided to residents.
The Village?s financial position was bolstered by a conservative approach to spending in response to COVID-19 during the current fiscal year, which ends April 30. Village departments cut back on discretionary expenditures and sales tax revenue in Oswego also remained strong throughout the pandemic, despite statewide Stay at Home orders. *Read more. Celebrate Earth Day today in Oswego
Earth Day flag
Earth Day was founded in 1970 to raise awareness in the U.S. of environmental problems but ended up inspiring an environmental movement. In 1990, Earth Day became recognized around the world. In recognition of Earth Day, the Village of Oswego Green Team challenges you to step up your sustainability game this week. Here are some suggestions:
* Bring a bag and pick up trash as you walk
* Unplug electronic cords between uses
* Skip the plastic bag at the checkout
* Go meatless for one day a week
* Use public transportation, bike, walk, or carpool
* Plant something
* Donate or recycle items instead of throwing them away
* Use reusable water bottles and utensils
However you choose to do it, thank you for making Oswego -- and the whole Earth -- a little more beautiful and healthy.?
