Fight to Save Women’s Sports Takes Center Stage in Texas House This week, the Texas House Committee on Public Education heard public testimony on HB 4042 by Representative Cole Hefner that would Save Women's Sports. Women deserve to compete on a level playing field, but a growing trend of allowing biological males to compete in girls and women’s sporting events is being accelerated by the Biden Administration’s unprecedented promotion of transgender ideology. We are thankful for the strong show of support for fair play from coaches and activists all over Texas, along with our policy team, during the hearing. “Save Women’s Sports commends Texas for tackling this sensitive issue….If we continue to allow males to compete in female sports it will be the demise of female sports," said Beth Stelzer, founder of Save Women’s Sports and a powerlifter who testified at the hearing in favor of HB 4042. HB 4042 is facing an uphill battle with Rep. Harold Dutton (D-Houston) chairing the Committee and with the Houston Chronicle reporting that potential swing vote on the committee, Rep. Dan Huberty (R-Kingwood), is not supporting the legislation. Please continue to take action to contact your Texas Legislators to save women’s sports in Texas. |
