Factory farms using biogas to perpetuate the myths of “sustainable industrial agriculture”

How energy from factory-farmed animal waste reinvests in Big Ag & Big Oil

You might have heard about biogas—turning organic waste into “clean, renewable fuel.”

But biogas from CAFOs is neither clean nor naturally renewable. Factory farm folks are lining up to get government money for biogas digesters—and they'll also use these projects to market themselves as environmentalists.

Biogas is not a replacement for clean solar, water, wind, and geothermal energy. It does not solve the environmental degradation or the human and animal suffering caused by factory farming.

This Earth Day, we must reject biogas in favor of energy and agricultural changes that can actually build a sustainable, just future. Learn why biogas is a toxic, greenwashing distraction:

Joaquin Phoenix Reunited with Rescued Mother Cow & Calf for Earth Day

A year after their rescue, Phoenix meets Liberty and Indigo, this time as unique individuals. In this touching video, he reflects on their lives and the environmental realities we're facing today.

“...in some ways, it's just as simple as sparing the lives of these creatures. But it's also an acknowledgment of not only the destruction they feel at our hands but the environment as a whole. By our actions, we either have the choice to continue to destroy other beings and the environment, or we begin the process of reversing the damage that we've done.” – Joaquin Phoenix

VOTE NOW to Help Farm Animals!

Farm Sanctuary is up for a Webby Award for social media! (And it’s kind of a big deal.) Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards are a leading international award contest honoring excellence on the internet.

We’ve always fought for visibility for farm animals, to help people see them as the thinking, feeling individuals they are. As the only mission-driven nominee in our category, we believe that winning this award would truly bring critical attention to these animals on an international scale—and earn them the consideration they so desperately need and deserve.

YOU can help: Please take two minutes to vote for Farm Sanctuary, and ask friends and family to do the same! It's a vote for animals and for the planet!
