John -- This week BNC Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Cori Bush announced their Green New Deal for Cities Act of 2021. And how poetic that they rolled out this groundbreaking legislation in the same week we celebrate Earth Day.

If passed, the bill would provide federal funding for state, local, tribal, and territorial governments to respond to the climate crisis, while also creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in communities disproportionately affected by economic inequality.

Important line items include:

Funding of an expansive array of climate and environmental justice projects, including wind power, clean water infrastructure, and air quality monitoring

Support housing stability by allocating investments to local governments to ensure they work with tenants, landlords and community groups, to prevent displacement and houselessness in communities that will receive funding

Aid our workers by including wage requirements, equitable and local hiring provisions, apprenticeship and workforce development requirements, project labor agreements, and provide thousand of good paying union jobs

From properly weatherizing homes, to the removal of lead paint and pipes in public housing and workspaces, passing a Green New Deal would improve the quality of life for our most vulnerable communities and secure our ability to maintain a planet habitable by humans.

In 2016 Brand New Congress laid down the policy framework for what is now known as the Green New Deal as part of our original platform.

In 2019, AOC and Sen. Ed Markey introduced the legislation to Congress for the first time. And the Green New Deal now serves as a defining litmus test for where Democratic candidates and representatives stand on every facet of environmental justice.

Now the fight continues. And support for the Green New Deal continues to multiply within the Democratic Caucus as progressive leaders in Congress, and the American people, push for it’s passage.

“This whole thing is about saving lives...The urgency of this climate crisis and environmental racism demands that we equip our cities and our local governments with this funding.” - Rep. Cori Bush

If you agree with Cori; if you are ready to fight for the future of our planet and elect leaders who will advocate for REAL, SUBSTANTIAL environmental justice, then I’m asking you to make a contribution of $5 today.

John , America put the first man on the moon within 8 years of deciding to put our minds to it. So why can’t we also be the first country with a carbon-neutral economy within 10 years?

Many will say it is impossible, but that is exactly what they said about landing on the moon.
