Friend,

I am pleased to share with you that the Khalid Jabara and Heather Heyer NO HATE Act just passed the U.S. Senate as an amendment to the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.

[[link removed]] I have said this before, but I am so incredibly proud of the role our team at the Arab American Institute played in identifying this gap in hate crime reporting and seeking a remedy to address it. We expect the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Jabara-Heyer NO HATE Act in the coming weeks, clearing its path to the President’s desk.

Today is an important milestone. Nothing can bring back Khalid or Heather, but today’s passage of Jabara-Heyer helps ensure their stories live on in a way that helps other victims of hate crimes.

We could not have done this without you and are grateful for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Maya
