Budget 2021 — which outlined many of the Liberal government’s next steps to accelerate the fight against climate change and build a green recovery for jobs and a cleaner future.

On Earth Day and every day, we know that ignoring the risks of climate change just isn’t an option. That’s why the Liberal government is taking even stronger new action to protect a healthy environment for future generations. Just this morning, Justin Trudeau announced that Canada is strengthening our emission reduction targets, to 40-45% below 2005 levels by 2030 — because it’s the right thing to do for our environment, our economy, and our future.

In contrast, Erin O’Toole’s announcement last week showed that Canadians will have to keep waiting for a serious plan from the Conservative Party to address the existential threat and economic opportunity of climate change. After voting to deny climate change is real just last month, the announcement by Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives would cut less pollution, cost Canadians more, and cut the Climate Action Incentive rebates that make life more affordable for Canadian families.

Canadians understand that we need to take action now – and the Liberal team is doing just that, including by moving forward with:

- Our Strengthened Climate Plan for a Healthy Environment and Healthy Economy, which will create good jobs, protect a clean environment (including with a price on pollution), and help make life more affordable for Canadian families.
- A ban on harmful single-use plastics, which gets us one step closer to a #ZeroPlasticWaste future
- Investments in better transit, and switching public transit systems to cleaner electric power
- Supporting the use of zero-emission vehicles and electric transportation
- And so much more...
In a minority Parliament, it’s especially crucial that we have your support to ensure that we can keep stepping up the fight against climate change, and keep building a better, stronger, and more resilient Canada.
