Climate change means longer droughts and larger wildfires.
Climate change means rising sea levels and massive storms.
Climate change means food shortages and forced migration.
Climate change is the threat that we can no longer ignore.
Last year, as our state faced one of the worst wildfire seasons ever, Donald Trump blamed the fires on forest management and told us that “Maybe we’re just going to have to make them pay for it because they don’t listen to us.”
While California burned, the president hemmed and hawed on providing the relief aid we desperately needed.
And the 25th District’s representative stuck by him anyway. That was no surprise, considering Mike Garcia has repeatedly opposed legislation that aimed at addressing climate change.
This Earth Day, I’m asking you to help elect a leader who will actually vote in favor of pro-climate policies -- not against them -- and who will always fight for the resources we need to protect our people and our state lands. It’s time to create a greener future for our district, and Mike Garcia isn’t the one to do it.
A lack of rain this winter has set us up for another tough fire season to come.
Extremely dry fuel, low humidity, and depleted reservoirs all tell us that we need to be prepared -- but even after last year’s destruction, Mike Garcia has done nothing to brace our district for the fires ahead.
Not only does he refuse to stand up against climate change, he won’t even try to protect our community against the disasters it causes.
Ignoring a problem doesn’t make it go away. We’re already running out of time to save our planet -- we can’t afford to re-elect a representative who doesn’t believe there’s any work to be done.
