Dear John,
Nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers continue in Vienna, even as the Iranian regime flagrantly violates one provision of the 2015 nuclear deal after another.
Just this week, Iran announced that it would start enriching uranium to 60%, bringing the country dangerously close to the 90% level needed to build a nuclear bomb—and vastly exceeding the 3.67% limit set by the nuclear deal. It also announced that it would install new sophisticated centrifuges banned by the accord.
What You Need to Know
As we monitor developments in the Austrian capital, I urge you to check out this new American Jewish Committee (AJC) explainer outlining the five things you should know about the nuclear talks.
I also encourage you to read AJC’s policy paper on Iran, which reflects the elements we believe must be part of any new nuclear deal.
AJC’s Stance
Our position is clear: There should be no return to the flawed 2015 nuclear agreement. Without addressing the multiple threats posed by Iran, it would represent a tremendous step backward, enabling the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism to continue its malign and deceitful activities at home, across the Middle East and around the world.
We cannot give Iran a free pass.
Warmly,
Jason Isaacson AJC Chief Policy and Political Affairs Officer |
