** We don't need everyone to win.
------------------------------------------------------------
As the season turns over, so does our work. This week, we're seeing real shifts: impeachment is increasingly becoming a reality, the climate strike momentum is building and we're getting ready for a week of actions in DC and around the country as SCOTUS kicks off their new session.
This is not a time to get comfortable. This is a time to turn it up. Because the power of the people is making itself felt: we will not consent to a government of corruption and lies. We want justice. We want accountability. And we want action before it's too late.
Through our resistance, "we are allowing each other to see one another more clearly. We are allowing the country to see itself more clearly" (Ana Maria Archila).
And here’s the thing. We don’t need everyone to win. We just need 3.5% ready to stand up to systems of oppression and show up for each other ([link removed]) . We need people to dig deeper. We need people to persist. We need people to not give up until we are all free.
This is our practice. And now is the time.

RECLAIM THE COURTS
All eyes are on SCOTUS as the five-justice conservative majority begins its first full term ([link removed]) together on October 7th. And it is not without controversy or resistance. Freshman Justice Brett Kavanaugh faces a mounting movement to impeach him. And the Notorious RBG persists despite cancer (we'll be doing planks for her wellbeing next week). But the stakes are REALLY high. Everything from LGBTQ workplace rights, gun reform, religious school funding and the fate of dreamers will be determined. And the existential fight to end Roe enters its endgame ([link removed]) next week. The people are demanding more accountability from the court, and some are even arguing for term limits ([link removed]) . On
October 6th, the anniversary of Kavanaugh's nomination and the first day of the 2019-20 term, we are descending upon Washington DC to make our voices heard and take back the court. Register for #ReclaimTheCourt ([link removed]) . And we're rewinding CTZN podcast featuring Ana Maria Archila ([link removed]) to get into the mood. Art by @cpdaction
IMPEACH THE MF
The blows keep coming for Trump as he struggles with his impeachment defense (no really, here is his latest unhinged rant ([link removed]) ). Trump just doubled down, calling again on Ukraine (and China) to investigate the Bidens. But Trump should be worried; he's just six Senate votes ([link removed]) away from impeachment. What's next? Here's a flowchart of how the impeachment process work ([link removed]) s ([link removed]) . And a schedule of the next steps ([link removed]) . Oh...and wine pairings
([link removed]) for all impending impeachment scenarios. Meanwhile, a majority of Americans believe an impeachment inquiry is necessary ([link removed]) . The chips are falling and its time take a stand. We're taking to the streets on October 13th to demand that congress #ImpeachNow ([link removed]) . Art by @lynzymakesartthings
LGBTQ IN COURT
Can someone be fired being gay ([link removed]) ? The Supreme court will decide this term. The cases (there are three) will determine whether the existing federal ban on sex discrimination forbids employment discrimination against LGBTQ workers. In Zarda and Bostock involve Donald Zarda and Gerald Bostock, gay men who allege they were fired because of their sexual orientation. Harris Funeral Homes involves Aimee Stephens, a trans woman who was fired by a boss who claims that he would violate “God’s commands ([link removed]) " if he allowed Stephens “to deny [her] sex while acting as a representative of [the] organization.” (WTF?). Here is the showdown explained. ([link removed]) .And we're not
just watching on the sidelines. We're going. Housing Works is mobilizing for a mass action in DC on Tuesday, October 8th to call attention to three Supreme Court hearings that will determine whether or not Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act protects LGBTQ+ workers from discrimination. Sign up HERE ([link removed]) . What happens if we lose ([link removed]) ? The Equality Act.
EXTINCTION REBELLION
The September 20th climate strike was the largest in world history with approximately 7.6 million people participating. For the second consecutive week ([link removed]) , climate change ([link removed]) demonstrators took to the streets across the globe to highlight the growing climate crisis. And things are about to heat up. Everyday, activists are putting their bodies on the line for our planet. Protesters tell us why they're risking arrest ([link removed]) saying "time is running out". And things are about to get even hotter. Starting on October 7th, for 2 weeks, Extinction Rebellion is calling an International Rebellion. Together, we will peacefully occupy the centers of power and shut
them down until Governments act on the Climate and Ecological Emergency. Leave your desk. Invite your boss. Walk out of school. Switch off the TV. Put down your phone. Get on the streets. Make #GoodTrouble. And bring everybody. Join the rebellion ([link removed]) . Art by @ExtinctionRebellion.

ACCESSIBLE, FOR REAL
Accessible is the new advanced in yoga. And Jivana Heyman ([link removed]) is leading the way. "I think we're moving from yoga for the few to yoga for the many". Check out his conversation on The Beginner's Mind Podcast ([link removed]) where he tackles how modern yoga isn't uniting us, it's excluding us; and what we can do about it. Yonnie Fung breaks down how to teach an inclusive, safe and ethical yoga class in this helpful blog ([link removed]) . For more on shifting yoga culture to be more inclusive and equitable, check out the Accessible Yoga Conference ([link removed]) in New York next weekend (Oct 11-13). And, try this sequence ([link removed]) to
