I struck a nerve with one of my Republican colleagues on Tuesday. And I won't hesitate to strike a nerve again if the GOP continues to use politically expedient, extremist rhetoric to further their backward agenda. 

Because here's the honest-to-God truth, friend: The Republican Party only "backs the blue" when it's convenient for them.

But where were they when a pro-Trump mob stormed our Capitol and attacked officers in the line of duty? Where were they as their armed supporters marched on statehouses and shouted abuse in the faces of police officers? They were absolutely silent, or worse, encouraging them with dishonest tweets about election fraud, friend.

This is the modern-day Republican Party. Filled with extremist, conspiracy-laden, divisive rhetoric. And yet, election experts are reporting they are well positioned to take back the House majority in 2022. We must do everything in our power to keep that from happening – to keep them from being at the wheel. 

So here's what I'm asking: Donate whatever you can. Just donate straight from the heart so we can defend our Democratic House majority. Because the American people deserve better than this – and we've got to defend our congressional majorities so we can keep doing better for our country.
