Friend, across the country, we are witnessing hundreds of voter suppression laws from Republican lawmakers who are stopping at nothing keep people from going to the polls.

And let's be honest: These laws disproportionately hurt Black voters and other people of color from exercising their constitutional and civil rights. 

In Michigan, Texas, Georgia and many other states, Republicans are trying to shut millions of people out from our democracy – all so they can hold on to power no matter what.

We must take steps to protect our democracy immediately. That's why I'm working to pass the For the People Act, a sweeping piece of legislation that expands voting access, helps get dark money out of our politics and institutes anti-corruption laws to protect our electoral system.
