Friends —
Today is the 51st Earth Day — a day to celebrate clean air, land, and water.
The one moment I’ll never forget and love to share, is when I got out of my seat on my first trip to space and saw our planet from orbit for the first time.
Seeing our planet as a round blue ball floating in the blackness of space, you get a sense that we are all in this together. And you gain an understanding of how fragile our atmosphere is — it looks as thin as a contact lens on an eyeball.
On the first Earth Day, Americans organized and demanded a healthy and sustainable environment.
That led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
Now, 51 years later, we have an obligation to continue to advocate for our planet, which is why today I’m asking if you will join me.
In honor of a day that means a lot to me and the future of this planet we call Earth, will you sign your name on my petition and commit to working for a more healthy and sustainable future?

It’s up to us to act now so that future generations will inherit a liveable planet.
So thank you for taking this seriously and doing everything you can to protect planet Earth — because there is no Planet B.
