Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reintroduced the Green New Deal (aka a $93 Trillion progressive wishlist) in Congress.

 

No surprise there.

 

What shocks me is the fact that in the two years since it was first introduced, this idea has gone from the radical fringes of the Democratic Party to a core pillar of their agenda.  

 

The Green New Deal would have far-reaching consequences for every American –– and as we fight this radical legislation, I want you to know how this would affect hard-working Wisconsinites.

 

In Wisconsin alone, the Green New Deal would cost:

• $75,000 to every household in the first year of implementation. 
• $40,000 per household every year after.
• $200 million in losses to Wisconsin farmers.
• $2.5 billion to Wisconsin's robust dairy industry.

John, this isn’t a deal. It’s a power-grab. 

 

The Green New Deal would do more to protect the power of the federal government than it would protect the environment, and America’s energy industry would be effectively destroyed if it were to be enacted.

 

Instead of progressive pipe dreams that wipe out energy pipelines, we should be investing in common-sense solutions that promote energy independence, create jobs, and empower Wisconsin’s farmers that are already leading the charge to drive down carbon emissions.

 

That will never happen under the Green New Deal –– and I need your help to let Washington know that Northeast Wisconsin strongly rejects this legislation.
