Twin Ports DSA Members and Associates:

Our Monthly membership meeting is 4 pm this Sunday. You can register for it here. Non members are welcome!

One topic of discussion will be our upcoming PRO-Act event, May 1st, at City Center Park, 12 Noon, Superior. If all goes as planned we will have music by Danny Frank and multiple speakers from labor unions. Our own Joel Sipress will talk about some of the labor history of the area, and we will be promoting DSA's nationwide effort to pass the PRO-Act. You can find a high-res version of the event flyer here.

Our full meeting agenda is as follows:

1. Approve agenda and minutes (Troy will chair) 5
2. Treasury report 5
3. Introductions 10
4. Progress report from Racial Justice Working Group 20
5. Ecosocialist/Line3 update 10-15
6. Labor update 15-20
7. Convention update 5-10
8. YDSA 5
9. Other business/announcements 5
9. Secretary's report 3
10. Adjourn

We will follow up the meeting with open post-meeting talk (for anyone who wants to stay on and talk current events, non-meeting stuff). Real meetings usually have a little before and after social time. If people are ready to go, that's fine too.

The DSA convention is coming up (August 1-8) and we will have to pick one delegate and one alternate. If you would like to run for that let us know. It will be all online, and have many opportunities for all members to participate. Not as fun for the delegates as a live event (the original event was scheduled to be in Vegas) but it will be good. The following links are useful to learn and prepare for it.

DSA Convention page
Pre-convention conferences open to all members.

From the convention rules: "Locals shall conduct and supervise their own elections of Convention delegates and alternate delegates in accordance with the applicable provisions of the DSA Constitution and Bylaws not before the apportionment of delegates and no later than June 17th, 45 days prior to the start of convention. All locals shall use an STV method in order to conduct their election."

They suggest we use something like OpaVote.com for the election, which is simple and cheap for a chapter our size. But we have never had a contested delegate election, so we will see if it's needed. We do encourage everyone to consider running.

In solidarity,
John Krumm
TPDSA Secretary
