Hi John,

We’re at a crucial moment. It’s been two months since the tragedies in Dayton, Chicago, and El Paso refocused the nation’s attention on the urgent need for commonsense gun laws. Your advocacy helped push the House to take the first meaningful action on gun violence prevention in years, but the Senate has refused to act.

Yesterday, as nine leading presidential candidates participated in a gun safety forum in Las Vegas, the press had this to say:

I’ll be honest, John. We can’t let that happen. Will you rush a donation today to prove them wrong?

The truth is, yesterday was an historic event. The candidates spent six hours discussing the epidemic of gun violence—from the tragedy of mass shootings to the crisis of firearm suicide—and outlining their proposed solutions.

Senator Warren was correct to characterize gun violence as a “public health emergency” and we need to respond accordingly.

We have made so much progress and we can’t let up now. The gun lobby is counting on us losing focus in the midst of the political chaos happening right now. That means we need to work harder than ever to make sure we keep up the pressure. And we need your help to do it.

Please contribute to help us keep pushing for lifesaving gun safety laws.

With gratitude,
Kristen Ellingboe
