Tomorrow is Earth Day, friend, and I’m actually more hopeful than I’ve been in years that we can and will tackle our climate crisis.
We are at an inflection point where American innovation and new green technologies are finally being supported by both the public and the private sector. Disruptive forces in nearly every facet of our economy — from manufacturing to agriculture to transportation to construction — are putting America back on the path to lead the global transition to clean energy.
Addressing the climate crisis is an absolute necessity, but it also represents a transformative opportunity — where if we act domestically we can lead again internationally. We need a whole-of-society approach to tackle this crisis.
That’s why on this Earth Day, I’m asking you to renew your commitment to climate action and environmental justice. Then share your support on social media.
Even as I’m more optimistic than ever, the deadline to act keeps accelerating. The natural world demands we act now. The global competition to lead on clean energy demands we act now. The damage caused by environmental injustice demands we act now. The need to act is clear, and our ability to act is unprecedented.
Right now, there is a great opportunity for change.
And we can, once again, be a leader for the world while simultaneously focusing on the stark inequities at home.
