John — We wanted to give you a quick update on the White House’s Leaders Summit on Climate that is coming up this week.
Starting tomorrow, President Joe Biden will host representatives from around the world to talk about solutions to the climate crisis and work to get leaders to commit to higher greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
Ahead of that meeting, SEEC members met with Special Climate Envoy John Kerry to talk about how we can reduce emissions domestically and fight for bigger commitments globally. The White House is about to release an updated U.S. emissions reduction pledge under the Paris Agreement, and our ability to meet it will depend heavily on what we can accomplish in Congress.
Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
