John,

Fifty-one years ago tomorrow, the first Earth Day was observed in the United States, with people across the country demanding action to protect our environment. In the decades since, Earth Day has grown into a global movement urging action and awareness of our climate crisis.

Protecting our environment has always been a passion of Kim's. Prior to becoming a pediatrician, Kim worked at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Now she's working in Congress to protect our planet for future generations.

During Donald Trump's term in the White House, we saw a rollback of environmental protections that threatened the progress so many scientists and activists had been fighting for. From leaving the Paris Climate Agreement to slashing EPA funding, Trump continually placed profit and deregulation over the health of our planet.

Fortunately, under President Joe Biden, we once again have a leader who is committed to science, and he has already taken great steps toward combating climate change. On his first day in office, President Biden rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement to renew our country's commitment to protecting our planet. And he's signed a series of executive orders aimed at confronting climate change.

President Biden's actions are a step in the right direction, but we still have a lot of work to do. We only have a few years to make major changes before we see irreversible and profound damage to our environment.

In Congress, Kim's working to ensure our country invests in clean energy, reduces carbon emissions, and protects our planet for future generations. But the only way we can tackle this crisis is if we all work together.

Before we celebrate Earth Day tomorrow, will you add your name to join Kim in recommitting to the fight to protect our climate?

Thanks,

Team Schrier
