This Earth Day, Ro is leading the fight in the House to eliminate $15 billion in taxpayer-funded subsidies for the fossil fuel industry.
At a time when all the experts are telling us we need to be developing renewable energy, that we need to be addressing the climate crisis and that we don’t have much time to act, the last thing we should be doing is tipping the scales in favor of an industry that pollutes our planet.
Every year, the federal government supports the production of fossil fuels by an estimated $15 billion – thanks in large part to Big Oil lobbyists that influence the Administration and Congress to prop up their industry.
President Biden has announced executive action to end fossil fuel subsidies, but that’s not enough. A substantial portion of that $15 billion a year comes from tax breaks or other financial incentives that are set and managed by Congress.
Ro is building momentum in Congress to end subsidies for the fossil fuel industry, because the health of all Americans and our planet is at stake.
Thanks for taking action,
Team Ro Khanna
