Any day now, Facebook will reach a decision on whether Donald Trump should be allowed back on their platform. If the early reports are accurate, things are looking good for Trump and insurrectionists everywhere.
You might remember that Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and most large social media sites after inciting the deadly Capitol insurrection. Trump has shown no remorse since then. He's actually doubled down on the Big Lie that the election was rigged against him despite producing zero evidence.
If Trump is allowed back onto Facebook, he'll do even more damage to our country. At the height of the pandemic, he used his social media channels to propagate racism, calling COVID-19 the “China virus” and the “Kung Flu.” That kind of rhetoric from Trump is at the heart of the sickening rise in hate crimes against AAPI Americans.
Trump's presence on Facebook is a danger to our democracy and a direct threat to communities of color, especially the AAPI community. He'll use the platform to raise millions for his own political ends. He will radicalize more Americans, and our free and fair elections will face renewed threats.
There is still time to show Facebook that we will not sit quietly in the face of this danger. Facebook cannot continue to host right-wing radicals who encouraged an insurrection. We must keep Trump off their site. That's why we need you to answer our survey today, John.
