** ZOA's Philadelphia Region Gala a Huge Success!

As we celebrated Rosh Hashana, we couldn’t help but feel grateful and inspired by the tremendous pro-Israel community that the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has built throughout the country. And experiencing the ZOA’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter's fabulous Gala was the perfect way to celebrate some of these accomplishments.

Held on September 24, 2019 at the Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia, the event was a huge success! The space was filled to capacity with committed and passionate Zionists, eager to celebrate ZOA's achievements and this year’s honorees – Professor Jason Hill, Cliff Rieders,Esq., Malka Kantor Rapkin, and Rabbi Eliezer Hirsch and – each of them unique in their contributions to our community. Prominent Philadelphia attorney Allen L. Rothenberg kicked off the evening by leading the crowd in "The Star-Spangled Banner" and later "G-d Bless America," and ZOA National Board Member Gary Erlbaum was the emcee.

Dr. Jason D. Hill (center), professor of philosophy at Depaul University and originally from Jamaica, was presented with the Education Beacon Award in recognition of his extraordinary pro-Israel work, which fueled Israelophobes demanding he be fired because of his promotion and writings of the truth of holy Jewish land and the Arab/Islamic war against the Jewish State. .

Cliff Rieders (second from left) received the Lee Bender Defender of Israel Award, recently named in honor of former Board President Lee Bender z”l, for his unparalleled commitment and spirit in his work with ZOA’s Greater Philadelphia Chapter and the National Board.

Malka Kantor Rapkin (center) received the Pillar of the Community Award, in recognition of her dedication to protecting her native Land of Israel and her passion of promoting Zionism.


Rabbi Eliezer Hirsch (center), religious leader of Mekor Habracha/Center City Synagogue, received the Guardian of Israel Award for his tremendous work, both on and off the pulpit.
ZOA National President Morton Klein was honored to speak before such a vibrant crowd, delivering a passionate address about the important work of ZOA and his recent experiences fighting for the State of Israel and against the recent frightening uptick in anti-Semitism.

However, despite the shock of anti-Semitism in America in 2019, Mr. Klein remains optimistic, saying
"in a great country like the USA, where there's great support for Jews and the Jewish homeland - it is a country that will never ever turn its back on Jews and will continue to fight Jew-hatred."

He continued, "with the help of the absolutely good people of America, and the help of Almighty God, I believe that we will ultimately defeat the scourge of anti-Semitism and Israel-hatred."

Thank you to ZOA Greater Philadelphia Executive Director Steve Feldman, Gala Chairman Howard Katzoff, and ZOA National Staff Nancy Hollander and Alan Jay for making the evening truly incredible!
