Friend --
Here’s a question I asked my Republican colleagues when state after state tried
to pass Jim Crow-style laws restricting the right to vote:
Why are you afraid of democracy?
But we know why.
When more people vote, Democrats win. When voting is easy and safe, democracy wins. We cannot let Republicans strip away the right to vote. So I’m asking you to add your name to demand the Senate pass the For The People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to end voter suppression and protect the right to vote. [link removed]
When your party loses an election, you should try to win people back. Not stop
them from voting. That’s what we agree to do when we run for office.
In fact there’s no greater shame for an elected official than to suppress votes.
There’s no greater shame for a democracy. There’s no greater shame for a nation.
Voter suppression has a despicable history in our country. It is racist. It is
anti-democratic. It is wrong.
The federal government can stop states from suppressing the right to vote, but I
need your help. Add your name to demand the Senate protect the right to vote
from the Republicans’ despicable attacks:
