Tomorrow is Earth Day 🌍... and Democrats aren't wasting any time proposing climate policies that will do more harm than good.
  • President Biden’s $2 trillion dollar “infrastructure” plan has been roundly criticized as a boondoggle intended to cram through Democrat wish lists—including green energy. The plan includes Green New Deal-like policies to shift America to net zero carbon emissions through massive subsidies for wind and solar and battery storage, while largely leaving out other promising renewable energy sources. Learn more.

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey have reintroduced the “Green New Deal” resolution, a sweeping climate change plan. Its aggressive regulations and restrictions would make energy less reliable and less affordable, while failing to actually improve the environment or address climate changeLearn more.

  • U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry recently returned from a diplomatic mission to Shanghai with a joint U.S.-China statement in hand which reaffirmed the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. As great as this sounds, diplomatic statements can be a far cry from actual policy change. While China may talk a good game about the climate, the U.S. and its allies should be cautious about believing any of it and pay much more attention to China’s deeds than its words. Learn more.

Takeaways: Nuclear power is the largest source of clean energy in the United States. Despite nuclear power's safe and reliable track record for reducing emissions, leftist policies and extreme environmental groups have consistently undermined its growth. By removing regulatory barriers and focusing on developing new nuclear technology, American innovators can lead the world to a cleaner, more secure energy future. ⤵️

CHAMPION MESSAGE

What I’d like people to realize is that there is such a thing as clean coal insofar as we are now learning how to prevent the carbon from staying in the air. It can be captured and stored in the ground. So, it shouldn’t matter what source is used to create electricity or create heat. What should matter is whether that source keeps the air clean. And the good news is we can have clean air and continue to use coal, oil, and gas.
— Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY)

HURTING NOT HELPING

Government Needs To Get Out of Its Own Way on Climate Change

It’s evident that miles of red tape and clumsy bureaucratic regulation don’t equate to environmental protection. As President Biden gears up to tackle infrastructure and rebuild a greener economy, these self-imposed hurdles will only delay progress that is urgently needed. Innumerable climate activists and environmentally-minded Americans alike have realized that the United States has delayed climate action for far too long, but they fail to recognize the correlation between the progressives they vote for and the burdensome regulations that prevent us from gaining ground in the fight against climate change.

DID YOU KNOW

Abolishing Police Was Always the Goal of the Far Left

We were told that defunding the police just meant cutting some of their funding. However, some of us suspected that some in the defund movement actually intend to abolish police forces. We were right. They toned down their rhetoric during election season, and now they are no longer hiding their intentions. Dismantling the police is reckless and dangerous. Sadly, poor and vulnerable Americans, especially those living in violence-plagued neighborhoods, will bear the brunt of such a policy shift.

CAPSULE REVIEW

NCAA Puts Women Last

The NCAA has a long-standing policy of permitting biological males who undergo testosterone suppression treatment to compete in women’s sports. Although the NCAA claims its policy is based on principles of inclusion, it in fact makes college athletics less inclusive—and far less fair—for women and girls. In fact, the NCAA’s policy undermines the express purpose of Title IX, which Congress passed forty-nine years ago to expand opportunities for women and girls.

Hong Kong’s Once-Free Press Comes Under a Fresh Communist Assault

Freedom of the press is all but gone in Hong Kong. The index of it done by the Hong Kong Journalists Association has recorded a steep drop over the past year, thanks in large part to “local journalists becoming the targets of extralegal intimidation or physical violence when reporting.” In Reporters Without Borders’ ranking of world press freedom, Hong Kong plummeted from 18th place in 2002 to 80th in 2020.

Committee Proposes Renaming School After Woman Who Wanted To “Permanently Segregate” “Degenerates”

Last December, the School Board in Falls Church, Virginia—a wealthy D.C. suburb—voted to rename George Mason High School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary due to the fact that these Founding Fathers were slaveholders. The committee reports are in, and the first recommendation to replace Thomas Jefferson Elementary is “Mattie Gundry Elementary School.” But Miss Gundry advocated for government-run “colonies” to “permanently segregate” “degenerate” individuals.
