Exciting news! Ahead of the Oscars, the Executive Producer of The Present, Mohannad Malas, will join Coffee & a Column today to discuss the short film, why he chose to back it, and what it means in the larger struggle for justice.

If you don't know Mohannad’s work, you don't want to miss this conversation. Of Syrian descent, his family made their home in Palestine and later Lebanon, where Mohannad worked in the family business before earning his advanced education in the UK and Canada. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1985 and found his personal business passion in real estate. Once he created success for himself, Mohannad turned his passion to being of service to others and advancing the cause of justice in whatever way he could. He supported the documentary,1948: Creation and Catastrophe. At the University of California at Irvine, he has endowed a Chair in Islamic Law. And now, he will join us just days before the Oscars to discuss The Present. I hope you'll join us too.

Register here for Coffee and a Column today at 2pm ET.

Dear Friend,

This week, in honor of Arab American Heritage Month, I'll be speaking with Ralph Nader about his heritage, his career, and the release of his new cookbook, The Ralph Nader and Family Cookbook: Classic Recipes from Lebanon and BeyondWe all know Ralph as the incredible public advocate that he is, but his previous book (The Seventeen Traditions) highlights the importance of his Arab American heritage and family in informing his life’s work. His new cookbook builds on that and I am so honored he will be joining us for this week’s discussion.

Due to a scheduling issue, the appearance of Farah Nabulsi, Director of The Present, has been postponed to May 5th, so mark your calendars for that.

Please register here to receive the dial-in information for the Zoom call with Ralph Nader on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m ET sharp. After you register, you will automatically get the dial-in information for the call.
