Dear MoveOn member,

Minutes ago, a jury found Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis, MN, police
officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck and back for 9 minutes and 29
seconds guilty on all charges.^1

While today's verdict provides a critical measure of accountability, there
is so much more we must do to achieve true justice in this country.
Justice would mean George Floyd was alive today. It would mean Daunte
Wright was alive today. It would mean so many others were alive today. And
simply being alive is not enough, it would mean that we were breaking the
grip of racism and white supremacy that prevents us from achieving true
justice.

As we breathe a sigh of relief, we must see this as a reminder to
rededicate ourselves to acting with great urgency to end white supremacy
and police violence and to create a world in which Black people are safe
and free.

There are many ways of participating in the work of racial justice. And in
the coming days and weeks, we will be sharing more information. But here
is something you can do right now that will make an immediate impact:

[ [link removed] ]Will you rush a $3 donation to the Yes 4 Minneapolis
coalition, a visionary grassroots effort working to replace the
Minneapolis Police Department with a new Department of Public Safety?

Yes 4 Minneapolis is a Black-led, growing coalition of grassroots,
community organizations and individuals who are working to replace the
violent Minneapolis Police Department with a new Department of Public
Safety that would address community safety holistically and with a public
health approach.

The Yes 4 Minneapolis coalition is building the support necessary to put a
proposal on the ballot this November when Minneapolis voters will have the
chance to make a historic and visionary decision to completely reimagine
the way public safety is achieved.

And if the coalition's campaign is successful, it could have massive
national implications, providing a road map for communities across the
country to restructure public safety.

[ [link removed] ]Will you donate $3 to the Yes 4 Minneapolis coalition
today? 100% of your donation will go directly toward the effort of ending
police violence and restructuring how public safety is achieved.

In the days ahead, across the country, there will be reflections, calls
for transformational policies, and other ways to take action to demand
more change. We'll continue sharing those opportunities as we learn of
ways we can have collective impact.

Today, and every day, we honor the memories of the Black children, Black
mothers, Black fathers, Black trans people, Black people with
disabilities, and all Black people murdered by police.

And we recommit ourselves to acting with courage in service of Black
liberation.

coalition. 100% of your donation will go directly toward ending police
violence, uprooting white supremacy, and reimagining public safety.

May George Floyd rest in peace.

Thanks for all you do.
