In a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a donation to support People First’s efforts to make our progressive ideas a reality, but first, I’d like to explain a bit about the work we’re doing to make it happen.

Here is some of what we’ve been doing just in the past few weeks:

• Fighting for police accountability — by backing local leaders and initiatives like San Antonio’s Proposition B that can create real systems of accountability within our public safety system.

• Fighting alongside civil rights groups and other Texas leaders like Beto O’Rourke to stop the extreme voter suppression legislation being considered in our state.

• Identifying and supporting young progressive candidates up and down the ballot who will face elections this year — including Texas’s municipal elections in just a few weeks.

As you can imagine, we’re busy, and it takes a significant amount of resources to do all of this. But it’s important work that will improve the lives of vulnerable people in Texas and across the country, and we’re counting on grassroots donations to make it possible. That’s why I’m asking you to pitch in today.
